I went there today with the CTC and there’s a notice up to say that the cafe will close at the end of October. it seems the current tenants no longer wish to carry on.

The cafe may reopen in the future, if they can find someone else to take it on, but we’ll need to find an alternative for our Saturday rides. Little Jacks or Velo Verde are the obvious ones.

I think Little Jack's will be best. Velo Verde seem to struggle with larger groups.

Our first time to Little Jacks last Saturday and they coped well with both the medium and easy groups, plus Mapperley turned up too and all were served quickly and efficiently. The only problem was that the level crossing was stuck down on the way back, which meant a 3 mile detour along the A52 and up to Elton on the Hill to get back on track.

I think The Kingfisher is still open at weekends. We rode past on Friday and saw a sign saying they are open Sat and Sun during the winter.

I noticed the sign as we flashed by the Wednesday before last, but didn't get the detail!
Went there today. Menu is a bit more limited than previously. Usual fry-ups, toast & jam etc self serve tea and coffee as before.

It looks as though Kingfisher/Portland Fishing Lakes has closed again. Initially, due to flooding and problems with the floor, but I’ve also heard that the new people who took over the cafe have given up.

http://portlandfishing.co.uk/ Their website doesn't indicate anything about re-opening.
Any further information welcome.
