Every time I get home these winter days my feet are cold and wet through despite wearing neoprene over shoes [BBB Hardware overshoes].
A cycling friend suggests Northwave Flash GTX winter boots but at £144 I want to first check out alternative options.
Are waterproof boots the best options or could I economise on better quality over shoes that members can recommend.
You could try waterproof socks https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CLCARWPS/carnac-waterproof-cycling-socks. I've not tried these.
I use Merino Wool socks in the winter https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CLPXMERS1P/planet-x-thicky-merino-socks and basic overshoes.
You don't want your shoes to be very tight fitting for winter use and a flap on your front mudguard keeps some water off.
Thanks Ed for your suggestions.
I was amazed at how reasonably priced planetX is. £15 for waterproof socks and £3 for 70% Marino socks!!!
What I have ended up doing is buying a well reviewed pair of Endura overshoes. Stupidly I bought from Evans and paid £5 postage when Rutland cycles offer free post. But what can you expect from Mike Ashley?
I used to use bread bags over my socks then put my shoes on .
Never got on with over shoes , mark you this in the days before clipless pedals.

I swear by these:

Thanks Chris. Good sales price at Wiggle but no XL size. I could get a pair for around £30 on Amazon.
The Endura overshoes that I have ended up buying are neoprene that I suspect are not as waterproof as the Northwave Polyurethane ones you have.
I use Shimano Goretex boots in winter. Never suffer with cold feet, don’t use overshoes with them. Had two pairs and commuted in them over ten years
Many thanks Mike. I think that that is the best way forward but I have been trying to find a cheaper option. I suspect that your route in the long run is the way to go
do your feet get wet when it is raining ? then it must be the water
