When we went along there yesterday the owner of the car sales place was parked on the path while opening his gates. He stopped a few of our group and complained about getting abuse from cyclists when he blocks the path.
He isn't blocking it for long but he could park without completely blocking it!
His customers often park on the path as well - I'm sure this is illegal, as well as annoying and dangerous.
We commented that he’d blocked the path as we passed, though there was probably room to pass between the car and the fence if we’d gone very slowly , we had already gone onto the road by then. It’s more of a problem on Sundays as the car place opens later.
There are often delivery vans and post vans that completely block the path. Perhaps we should just ride on the road instead, and hold up all the traffic.
This is a common problem along with lack of maintenance .
There is now a move afoot to educate motorists , to try and cut cycling deaths. wing nut
He was there again today. Almost totally blocking the path, with just enough room to get past to the right of his monster truck, then he open his car door just as Colin was riding past. No wonder he gets criticised by passing cyclists. The man is a menace.
The main problem is most current Cycle paths are an afterthought or add on.
most new ones are of poor quality ie loose gravel and not suitable as commuter routes or they are a good place to dispose of unwanted soil as the path by Cropwell Butler which is now more mud than path and very slippery.------wing nut
It's a well known fact in the petrol head community that cyclists don't drive cars. So he won't be impacted by everyone knowing never to go there when looking to buy a car.
unless there is proactive policing /local authority commitment - motorists will take precedence.
