
Here is another old photo from the sixties courtesy of Tony Jarrow.
The rider is Colin Riddell and it looks like it was in a road race in Derbyshire.
Note the helmet style of the day - we only normally used them in road races and on the track. It was normal to carry a spare tubular tyre, strapped under the saddle, and a pump.
Note:
Gear levers on the down tube.
Centre pull brakes (brand Universal, I think).
Bolt on clips for Bottle cage, pump and brake cables.
Chrome plating on frame (fork ends and seat stays) frames were steel then.
Deep drop handlebars.
September 1967. Came 5th, should have won but it was the day after my brothers wedding as I was very worse for wear. Lost interest towards the end.
