Norman Parker, a regular and popular rider sadly died in his sleep last Monday night.
He frequently rode with the Wednesday and Friday groups his fitness makes the news all the more surprising. So sad particularly with the proximity to Christmas.
Deep sympathy to his wife Jeanette.
Norman will be missed by so many of us. Since Ed's accident he has played an increasingly important role in leading Wednesday rides along with Trev.
He always had plenty of cycling anecdotes to share with others with long cycling memories.
He was particularly partial to plumb cake at The Alpine, Asfordby and at Barrowby.
I will miss him and his dry wit.
I've known Norman for over 20 years, as our sons used to race against each other from the age of 8. He was formerly a member of Manchester Velo and Beauvale CC but joined Sherwood after moving to Burton Joyce. He had done a lot of cycling again since retiring a few years ago and had become a regular on the Wednesday rides, where it was a pleasure to meet up with him again. I will miss him too.
Sympathies to Jeanette and family.

Would you mind passing these details on to any of Norman's cycling friends who want to remember him, please? If it's possible to have a rough idea of who's coming so I can ensure everyone is catered for, including any special food requirements, then I would be grateful.
I look forward to meeting you all, even though it won't be under the happiest of circumstances.
Many thanks
Jeanette
