Well done to Chris Draper for a 2:04:10 in the Nottm Clarion 50 on the Granby course.
This makes him Club 50-mile Champion and winner of the Judge Trophy.
A pity more don't have a go at a 50 - it is not a long way!

Thanks Ed, the last 50 I did was on the Etwall course back in July/August 2001 with Neil and Nigel just before we headed off to the Alps for a week. I did a 1:58:something back then, but was more used to riding for longer periods of time. This year I’ve only done 4 rides in excess of 2 hours and one of those was on the turbo trainer so to ride a 50 was always going to be challenging. I probably went out a little too hard covering the first half in around 58 mins, as a result, I started to struggle from the 30 mile mark onward. Having said that, I got all the way around and recorded a time which was my main objective. Next time I ride a 50 I’ll have to do a few more longer rides beforehand.

Great ride for that course. Yes. 58 seems way too fast for a first lap especially on that course!!!
