A good turnout of Sherwood riders at the above event. A tough night.
Riding into the wind from the start with conditions mildly better perhaps along the Harby to Langer section, were Ian Church, Paul Ward, Howard Clark and myself. Arriving at the 7.5 mile turn, came with thoughts that suggested it might be a tailwind up the 2.5 mile finish drag which is always a drag and seemingly always suffers headwind conditions and...
it was no different!
Total sufferfest to the finish. Ollie Peckover who beat me by 5 minutes to the second came past me doing well over 100+ rpm.
The event was won in 20:41. Sherwood times were as follows:-
Ian Church - 25:07
Roger Widdowson - 25:41
Paul Ward - 26:20
Howard Clark - 29:58 Howard's Strava shows an impressive finishing effort of a supra FTP effort of 162W for the last half mile with a max of 411W just before the line - all done sitting down! A great ride by Howard who was my 2 minute man. It took me 12 minutes dead to catch Howard at around 4.7 miles. Much better than his previous week's effort where I'd caught him for 6 minutes at 7.5 miles (although he did falter by taking a wrong turn which cost him around 30 seconds. A much improved effort again breaking the 30 minutes for the 2nd time in a week.
