My second outing of the year on Ed's Wednesday tour and cafe stop. Went out to Granby, Stathern, Eastwell and stopped at Lake view Fishery Cafe. Baked beans on toast and a mug of tea. There is one drawback with this route and that is Stathern hill, set off up it passing a few slower riders but I did not realise how long it was and by the top I think everyone had over took me! Still cafe not far now.
Set off back via Hickling, Cropwell Bishop. What was nice was getting on a heading NW which meant the wind was at our backs, sun was out and we had a nice long hill to go down; this was without doubt the best bit of the ride, letting the bike do its own thing; it loves down hills so I hang on and let it go.
Now the gruelling bit home and of course when me and Ed head off from Lowdham and get to Burton Joyce to Stoke Bardolph it is a full on head wind, head down Ed on my rear wheel and just drive on through the pain.
Did 50 miles and as always I have more hills to go up before I get home, up Cavendish (not too bad) but once I get on my estate I am face with Heather road the Southview road, Quads really burning now, finally back home, and a nice cuppa, feet up on sofa.
Great ride, thanks Ed.
So if this was only your 2nd ride of the year, you did incredible at the TT then? Was that your first ride of the year, a race?
I'm liking your write-ups especially this bit, " it loves down hills so I hang on and let it go ". Yesssss! I think I've seen that somewhere before. Ummmm!
