Getting ready this morning to go on the club ride and suddenly had an epiphany to do some hill training instead.
So went from home via Calverton to do Bank and Bonner hills both ways (with ride back). Then onto the club 10 course and straight into the Oxton Bank Hilly 21m course.
Tried to put this into my Garmin manually but a total waste of time as it wanted me to ride a completely different course, even at one stage bluntly told me to get off the road and turn right into a hedge row and cross a field???? Garmin's are good for data capture but crap at navigating!!!!
So turned navigation off and had to keep stopping to read Eds instructions from the newsletter, in conjunction with google maps on my mobile.
Managed Oxton bank seated all the way (wanted to strain the legs) and got a well done at the top from a cyclist riding down the hill.
Horrible course and the A617 very heavy with traffic.
The left turn at Upton onto a minor road is an understatement as it takes you on more of a continuous pot hole then a road so make sure you take your puncture kits with you if riding it!
Hard work, hard ride, 52.7 miles done. Not looking forward to the 23rd now! Ride done on road bike.
