Nice jaunt with Kath with some off road cycling. Cycled down to Colwick industrial area and there is a little passage off Private Road No3 that leads to a narrow path that runs along the river. Got to Gunthorpe (nearly all off road), had a coffee by the lock. Then cycled on past East Bridgford before turning back. Explored a bit of Closes Side Lane, it runs by the A46 (Fosseway) and turns left towards East Bridgford. It is more or less a dirt track with lots of gravel filled pot holes, (not for the faint hearted). Had to turn back to catch up with Kath who was heading back home. Next time I am there will venture to ride it all the way back into East Bridgford where I believe it leads?
Very nice not having cars bothering you for a change. Just under 25 miles. Going to explore more off road cycling in the future. Anyone interested maybe post covid we could do some off road club runs for those with suitable bikes.

We’ve been exploring local bridleways during lockdown. If you cross over the bridge at East Bridgford and go up to the island, you can pick up the old A46, which is now just a traffic free tarmac track, up to Red Lodge, then if you cross over the bridge again, there‘s a bridleway that takes you up to Flintham.
