Funny you should mention potholes causing punctures - by the time the message got down the line it was too late and bang Sue A's back wheel had punctured - it was just before a steep descent (phew caught just in time), onto the grass verge and a lightning quick fix. Round trip was a 50 miler - up onto Belvoir ridge and round the back of the Castle, rolling but short climbs to Eastwell, then fast ride to the cafe. New owners (chatty and seemed pleased to see us), a bit of a makeover and, though I can't recommend the coffee, it was a decent mug of tea with homebaked scone and butter. The other food looked OK too. Good ride back, incident free. Lovely ride and fantastic weather - couldn't ask for more.
A cold day, but not as cold as yesterday. Still a little ice around so kept off the lanes at first. Some went to Newark while ten of us had an easy ride to Farnsfield including Jon Kettell up from Somerset on a visit. A very social gathering at the Woodberry Café for a longer stop than usual. Clockwise from left Mark Haywood, Richard Buckwell, Kevin Humphreys, Ed Ward, Jon Kettell, Phil Hooks, Dave Gretton, Michael Falter, James Pam and Dave Waring.
