16 out on today’s ride so we ended up with 3 groups, separated by 50-100 yards on the road. This worked very well. We all went along the river then up to Southwell and Caunton, ending up at Newark. Giles and Llew‘s group wanted to push on a bit so took the lead but we kept them in sight for quite a while. The 3rd group got caught at a railway crossing then had to fix a snapped chain, so were a bit delayed arriving at Gannets. We separated a bit on the return leg and didn’t take exactly the same route, but all got back OK. 45 miles at 16 mph for me. I got stung by a bee near Southwell and my face had swollen up by Newark, so I had to go and buy some antI-histamine.
It was cool to start but warmed up later. I’m not sure how much longer we‘ll be sitting outside at cafes.
