Another glorious day for cycling with sunshine and little wind. Two groups went to Hickling - one by the flat roads and one over Belvoir ridge. Café was very busy - mainly cyclists sitting out in the sun.
For the first time in several months I felt some energy in my legs with my longest and fastest ride since last summer - not far or fast by normal standards, of course. It was my fourth ride in the last five days and I rode most of the way on the front. So, hopefully recovering from my setbacks now!
Good to hear Ed
Our group went out via Woolsthorpe and then did the climb in front of the Castle where we regrouped at the top, then Giles and Tom were driving the group at 22 mph along the top of the ridge, before we dropped down into Long Clawson and Hickling, to meet up with Ed’s group at the cafe. Giles and Tom carried on so we had a more leisurely ride back until Kev Savage put the hammer down and lined us all out. 43 miles for me at a healthy 16.5 average.
A good training ride for me and managed to hang in there to the cafe stop with a much welcomed and needed rest!
Managed to get half way home with the remaining group but got to a point where I dropped of the back of the group and I realised at this point it was futile trying to catch up and keep up as they seem to increase the speed again, and by now I was to too tiered to even try! So enjoyed my pootle back home solo (lucky I new my way from this point). 55.5 total miles for me, 16.1 ave and 42.3 max. Max heart rate of 159 (my age calculated max is 156).
