Two groups today on a very cold day for April. but it didn't rain!
Most went in the faster group aiming for Collingham but ending up at Sconce Park. The group was too large for the Garden Centre.
We ended up with just 3 in the easy group (Frank went home - too cold) to Little Jack's. We made it short as we all needed to be back early - and it wasn't a very inspiring day!
An enjoyable ride despite the cold wind. We put the big guns on the front into the wind to drag us along at a reasonable speed. We went via Long Bennington and Stubton then swung back towards Newark and Sconce Park to avoid the roadworks. A nice tailwind home via Shelton and Car Colston. I ended up with a 16mph average and 49 miles. Everyone kept up ok, including some of the newer riders stepping up from Ed's group.
I'm away next week but we are hoping to have a regular Sunday slightly faster ride to go to some different cafes such as the Alpine at Asfordby.
There is certainly a case for having a faster group on a Sunday. I'm conscious that we do miss out on visiting cafes slightly further afield like Wymondham that we use to visit. Unfortunately, I just can't manage the extra distance now so it is good that Trev has offered to lead some runs. Any other volunteers are also welcome for the days that Trev can't make.
