Ride with easy group to Kneesall, The Hay Barn Cafe. Nine of us, 42 miles, average 15.3 mph. Head breeze on the way back, through Hockerton and Southwell. Group split at Thurgaton, some taking the high road back to Lowdham and other destinations. Good ride, good pace and another beautiful autumn day.
Seven of us in the easy, easy group went to Dove Cottage.
It was one of those days! First I got a stick in my front mudguard on the was to the start - pulled the left hand stays off, managed to re-fix and secure with a zip tie.
Alan was struggling and then manged to fall off coming out the café car park. A mile later his gear jammed into his cassette, seems like the gear hanger got bent. We partially fixed it so he could ride avoiding his biggest sprockets. Then between Plungar and Granby Jets realised she had left he phone at the café. Terry and Vaughn went back with her while 3 of us nursed Alan back to Lowdham.
Then we saw Paul Jones walking with his bike, but nearly home, after puncturing!
At least the weather was kind!
They say things happen in threes Ed. Perhaps we could be called the “elite easy group”??
Both sections of the Easy group ended up at the Haybarn, despite both originally setting off for other destinations (Our group - Farnsfield, Other group - Edwinstowe). The cafe was full, but it was nice enough to sit on the benches outside, though we had to move them to a sunny position and wipe the dew off them before sitting down.
I think we might have to cross this cafe off the list, at least for autumn and winter rides. It seems to have become more popular with the general public and can only seat about 20 inside, so we will struggle to get seated.
A trouble-free ride for us, for a change. I managed to get back in time for my 1.15 teleconference - just!
