Three groups today with numbers down. Weather was better than forecast and there were 8 of us in the Easy Group. With a light North Westerly and most of the rain predicted for south of the River, we headed north.
Out through Hoveringham, Southwell Hockerton and Eakring to Hexgreave Park and a stop at the Coffee Shop (my first time). A very pleasant and reasonably priced café - they could cope with a group of about a dozen..
A couple of minutes after leaving, it went very dark and we had to put rain jackets on in a heavy, sleety downpour. My waterproof gloves soon filled with cold water running down my arms with no way out. By the time we got on Greave's Lane the rain stopped. Back on dry roads before I got home.
I don't think I have been as cold or as wet as I felt as we made our way back to Lowdham from Hexgreave. A miserable journey home but contrary to the forecast we did have a dry ride for most of the morning.
I can always say I've had a lot worse!
